Scoala cu clasele I-VIII Regina Maria

“Regina Maria” School, that in November 2009 celebrated its 80th anniversary, is a prestigious secondary school in Sibiu, the Romanian town which in 2007 was one of the European Capital of Culture. Our school aims at the integration in the European dimension carrying on the fruitful tradition to the modern civilization. The valuable prizes awarded to our students and teachers at different national and international contests - the International Astronomy Olympiad in India and China, or the European Label for the Science through English course come to prove the never-ending interest in the quality of teaching and learning not only referring to science but to everything related to teaching and learning. We are convinced that European partnerships really create more conditions to embed the international education and global citizenship within our national curriculum. Running a project with European school partners promote true values - noble attitudes, active citizenship, the intercultural dialogue and personal development. We consider that all the activities of the project focused on “Elements of science - lightning learning” through cooperation, mutual respect, understanding and tolerance will raise the quality and the motivation of learning and teaching, the creativity and competitiveness. Science stimulates students curiosity about phenomena and events in the world around them. This is an opportunity for critical and creative thought. Through science students understand how scientific ideas contribute to technological change - impacting on industry, business and medicine and improving quality of life. Students recognize the cultural significance of science and trace its world - wide development. They learn to question and discuss science - based issues that make affect their own lives, the direction of society and the future of the world. Promoting cooperation, team-work, acquiring and sharing knowledge and experience students and teachers will practise and improve ICT and language skills, too, will get together not only students and staff, but also parents, local community and cultural institutions as well. Our project team will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project activities, as well as in designing newsletters for all the partners. The activities planned for dissemination of the results will help our school and the other ones and will prove how important “ELEMENTS OF SCIENCE - LIGHTNING LEARNING IS”
